Since launching in March, the #BehindEveryDoor campaign – led by the UK’s third-largest PBSA provider Student Roost, and award-winning mental health charity Chasing the Stigma – has grown into a powerful sector movement.

Fourteen leading PBSA providers have now joined the pledge, collectively enabling over 86,000 students to access vital mental health support at the scan of a QR code.

Launched on University Mental Health Day 2025 with five providers committing to the pledge, the #BehindEveryDoor movement was created to encourage student accommodation providers to ensure every student, in every room, has access to mental health support at their fingertips, via Chasing the Stigma’s Hub of Hope platform.

Through QR codes placed on the back of bedroom doors, students can instantly access over 14,500 local and national charities, organisations, and student support services for advice on a range of topics, from anxiety and loneliness to financial distress and addiction, via the Hub of Hope.

In just five months, the movement has gained significant momentum, with national and global PBSA providers LUNA, Fusion, Yugo, CRM, AXO, Mys, Hello Student, Now Students, Here Students, Urban Students, Canvas Student, Chapter, and Aparto joining the movement.

If just one more provider joins the pledge, #BehindEveryDoor can reach a significant milestone: supporting over 100,000 university students across the UK.

Ashling Fox, Managing Director at Student Roost, said:

“Since launching the #BehindEveryDoor movement in March, we’ve seen an overwhelming response from PBSA providers committed to transforming how student mental health support is delivered and accessed.

“In November, we’ll host a working group with fellow pledge members to share industry insights and impact, helping us to strengthen our collective response to improving student mental health and wellbeing.

This united effort not only expands access to vital services but also deepens our understanding of the evolving needs of students across the UK.”

Jake Mills, Founder and CEO of Chasing the Stigma, said:

It’s genuinely inspiring to see the PBSA sector work together like this. It shows that when providers unite around a shared purpose, we can create something truly supportive for students.

“Every QR code behind every door is a quiet reassurance that help is there, whenever it’s needed. That kind of care, built into the places students live, can make a real difference.”

The need for additional providers to join the industry pledge is critical: scans of the QR code alone have reached more than 5,000 since September 2023, with anxiety and depression being the most searched for support.
