Our Responsibilities
We know we have an important role to play in securing a sustainable, lasting environment for our residents and our people, and don’t underestimate the scale of this challenge.
People and planet
We’re proud to be a home and employer to one of the most socially and eco-conscious generations ever. Their expectations of us as a business are huge, and so we want to make them proud and see they’re right to trust us to do the right thing for our people and our planet.
In 2021/22, we set out our commitments and where we are on the journey, including commissioning an independent study of our current state of environmental, social and governance actions and policies. We’re not there yet, but we’re looking where we can improve.
It's more than a room
All our residents should have a safe, comfortable home to live while studying. A place with 24/7 support and great spaces, where they can thrive and make friends as part of a community.
A job to be proud of
Our team members can expect rewarding roles and careers in a safe place where they belong and can bring their whole self to work.
Sustainable business
While we’re not there yet, we’re looking at how we can get towards Net Zero. This includes reducing energy usage and moving to renewable energy and requiring all our new developments to achieve a BREEAM rating of at least “Very Good”.
Corporate governance
We’re committed to high standards of governance through robust assurance processes – adhering to the spirit as well as the letter of the law, and being selective about the companies we partner with.
