In a relatively short space of time, we’ve established strong roots and have quickly grown into the organisation you see today while staying true to our core values. We’re not standing still: as we grow, we want to make sure we’re using the same drive to make a difference as an accommodation provider, employer and in the world around us.

One of our core values is 'You, do you'; after all, everyone else is taken. Student Roost is a diverse place to be, from the residents who come from all over the world to the tapestry of different experiences and backgrounds that make up our teams.

We believe that we are all richer because of the unique individuality of the people that make up our team. Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion goes beyond the comprehensive policies covering equal opportunity, dignity at work and more, putting our people front and centre.
We foster a supportive environment from your first day working with us so you get off to the Best Start Ever, where you can immediately belong and feel confident not to suffer in silence - whoever you are.
Dedicated networks within the organisation include Rainbow Nest, which welcomes all LGBTQ+ team members, and Fan Club, a private group for women to share their experiences about menopause.
In 2023, we welcomed the opportunity to host a tailored training session from Mermaids to our teams, in which the charity presented an overview of their work supporting transgender, non-binary and gender diverse young people, their families and the professionals involved in their care, as well a personal perspective on the experience of being non-binary today.
Our wellbeing team are on hand to offer support for all and, just like our residents, our team members can access an array of tailored support from local organisations through the Hub of Hope app, from Chasing the Stigma.

We've come so far, but we can go even further
We’re conscious of the responsibility we have to our residents, team members, society and the environment, and are always looking to improve.
We’re still on our journey, but we want to learn from our residents and team members to do the best we can for our people and our planet. We don’t underestimate what’s required, but if there’s one thing we love at Student Roost, it’s a challenge!
