Charity

Supporting charities. Strengthening communities

Since 2018 we've supported local and national charities, helping to create lasting positive impact for our communities and future generations.

Behind Every Door Movement

#BehindEveryDoor

We collaborated with national mental health charity Chasing the Stigma in 2022 to launch our #BehindEveryDoor campaign. What started as a sticker behind every door in every Student Roost property with a QR code to access local, tailored mental health services on the Hub of Hope has now become a sector wide movement.

14 PBSA providers have joined our national pledge to ensure every student in PBSA and university halls has free, instant access to local mental health and wellbeing resources and organisations in their area via Chasing the Stigma's Hub of Hope – the UK's largest and most comprehensive directory of community mental health services.

Become

Become is the national charity that supports children and young adults with experience in the care system. Their vision is to ensure care-experienced people are given the same chances as everyone else to live happy, fulfilled lives. Become amplify the voices of young people, help them get support and advice for their personal lives, education and careers, and challenge the people in power to change the care system for the better.

Become became our charity partner in 2026, allowing us to work together to:

  • Actively support young people transition into university
  • Create increased awareness of Become and their mission
  • Work towards becoming part of the Care Leaver Covenant to ensure our processes and policies
  • Adapt our processes to ensure they are supportive of our residents
  • Build supportive processes for our team members

British Heart Foundation

Since 2021, we have been a national partner of the British Heart Foundation's 'Pack for Good' campaign, and have raised over £400,000 for the cardiovascular charity.

'Pack for Good' is a campaign specifically for UK student accommodation providers and universities, which encourages residents moving elsewhere or finishing their studies to donate good quality, unwanted items. This includes clothing, books and study materials, kitchen and homeware, electrical items and furniture.

Donated items are distributed across the BHF's 740 nationwide stores to be sold, diverting unwanted items from landfill and helping to raise vital funds for research into diseases of the heart and their causes.
